A small shop that only does one brand

Sub-Zero Repair Sammamish is an independent service business, working for owners directly. It has no franchise behind it, it does not pass calls on to anyone else, and it has no affiliation with Sub-Zero Group, Inc.

The work is narrow by choice: built-in and integrated Sub-Zero refrigeration and nothing else. Refrigerator and freezer columns, freezer drawers, undercounter units, clear-ice makers and wine storage, with the sealed system at the center of it — compressors, leaks and refrigerant, handled under EPA Section 608 certification.

The shop has worked the Sammamish plateau since 2019. Many kitchens here still run the built-in they were finished with, so a lot of the calls are about units of a similar age reaching the same question: repair it, or replace it and the cabinetry work that comes with it. Many faults at that age are fans, heaters, sensors, gaskets and valves, and those are small repairs next to a new unit. When the fault is the sealed system, the repair-or-replace pages set both options out side by side.

How we work

• Sealed systems are the core of the work. Compressors, leaks and refrigerant charge are read under gauges and repaired here, and refrigerant is handled under EPA Section 608 certification.
• One brand, built-in only. Sub-Zero columns, drawers, undercounter units and wine storage. No dishwashers, no laundry, no other makes of refrigerator.
• The figure comes before the screwdriver. $89 covers the diagnosis and is credited to the repair; the repair itself is agreed in writing before a panel comes off.
• On the plateau since 2019. The business holds a licence and carries a bond and insurance. Ask when you call and the licence number is given to you, spoken or in writing.

What drives the number

Three things, none of them how the kitchen looks: which part your model takes, whether the unit has to leave its opening to reach the fault, and whether a part must be ordered to your serial number. So the work is given as a range until the unit has been seen, and nothing comes apart before you have agreed one figure. The price bands for each kind of repair sit on the repair pages.

When a repair is the wrong spend

Some units are not worth a big repair: a cabinet with worn doors, a corroded compartment and a failing compressor all at once, for instance. You hear that before you pay for anything beyond the diagnosis, even though it means there is no repair to do.
